Slide Fire 1022 Butttock SSAR-22
Outfit your Ruger®10/22® for the ultimate rapid fire experience with the SSAR-22 Kit. It includes an SSAR-15® OGR stock, 3lb pull trigger, and Tactical-22 chassis. The 3lb Trigger is optimized for rapid fire action and the 10/22® chassis system is designed to enhance the functionality and aesthetics of a standard RUGER 10/22® rifle. This is more than an addition, it’s a complete overhaul on your rifle.
The Slide Fire 1022 Buttttock SSAR-22 utilizes the same groundbreaking design and technology as the SSAR-15 line of stocks, offering the same level of performance, reliability, and superior craftsmanship for the classic 10/22 rifle. The SSAR-22 allows the shooter to safely bump fire their 10/22 rifle from the shoulder, effectively and legally simulating fully automatic fire, and allowing for an unprecedented measure of control that is severely lacking when attempting to bump fire a rifle in the traditional, “from-the-hip” manner.
The SSAR-22 features a shelf that positions the shooter’s index finger in a fixed position in front of the rifle’s trigger. To fire, the rifle is moved forward with the support hand pushing on the forend, thereby bringing the trigger to the shooter’s finger and discharging a round. The rifle’s recoil causes it to move rearward, allowing the trigger mechanism to reset. When the right amount of constant forward pressure is applied, the rifle will continue to fire as the trigger is brought forward and depressed by the shooter’s stationary index finger, causing the gun to Bump Fire. Only 4-6 lbs. of force is required, allowing shooters of any stature to enjoy the fast paced fun of the Slide Fire 10/22. With a little practice, the shooter will be capable of delivering accurate single shots, bursts, or even full magazine dumps on demand using the SSAR-22.
The SSAR-22 employs a simple stock locking mechanism that allows shooters to select between their preferred firing methods easily and quickly. In the extended or “Open” position, the rifle’s receiver is allowed to freely slide rearward during the recoil impulse into the stock, thereby allowing the gun to be bump fired. The stock may also be locked into a collapsed, or “Closed,” position into which the buffer tube attached to the chassis is held in place within the buttstock and unable to move, thereby facilitating semi-auto function.
The SSAR-22 is designed to be compatible with the Ruger 10/22 and clones. SSAR-22 Kit includes the chassis system platform, match grade trigger assembly, SBS stock, handguard with flattop rail for optic or sight mounting, interface block, nut retainer, hex key, mounting hardware, instructions, BATFE Approval Letter, and a lifetime factory warranty. Also included is an A2 pistol grip and collapsible, M4 buttstock for converting the 10/22 to a standard M4 configuration if extended semi-auto operation is desired. Made in the USA.
Stock Material: Reinforced High Strength Polymer
Compatibility: Ruger 10/22
NOTE: The Left Hand Model has a fixed finger shelf located on the right side of the stock. The trigger will be blocked by this shelf and inaccessible when fired with the right hand.

There’s several good Ruger 10/22 Trigger Upgrades. Unfortunately most of them cost as much or possibly even more then the initial purchase price of the gun. In addition to the drop-in triggers listed below there’s numerous manufactures that offer upgrade parts for the existing 10/22 trigger for a more economical solution. To get an idea of what’s involved with that check out this page from Brownells.
Timney Triggers’ 10/22 Drop-In Assembly contains a complete trigger assembly, cross-bolt safety, bolt catch and magazine release. The automatic bolt release allows the user to simply pull and release the charging handle to unlock the bolt, with or without the magazine inserted, and the magazine release extends from the front of the assembly to the underside of the trigger guard.
The steel trigger, sear and hammer are wire-EDM cut and heat-treated for durability. The housing is CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum and fits into any standard 10/22 stock. For installation, simply remove the two receiver cross pins, remove the old assembly, insert the Drop-In and then reinsert the cross pins. Trigger-pull weight is factory-set at 2 pounds, 12 ounces, with no discernible creep
Timney Triggers has just started accepting preorders of their new drop-in trigger for the Ruger 10-22. “EDM cut, Teflon-Nickel coated, exceptionally smooth, crisp, single-stage, drop-in trigger. Pull weight 2.5 pounds.
The KID trigger offers the incredibly clean and consistent let off expected in a target trigger while maintaining the total reliability and safety required of a field trigger. The pull weight can be infinitely distributed between the two stages offering a pull as light as 6 ounces (3 ounces on the first stage and 6 ounces on the second stage) or as heavy as 2.5 pounds.
This complete Trigger Assembly is CNC machined from aircraft aluminum and equipped with precision EDM parts. It features an internal pre-travel adjustment and a hammer that is precision ground from 440C stainless steel and hardened to 58 RC. The sear and disconnector are made of A2 hardened tool steel with tolerances of +/- .0002″, complete with custom tuned springs. The trigger is black anodized, equipped with an over travel adjustment screw and is reset internally to eliminate any dragging or inconsistencies caused by a conventional trigger plunger. An automatic bolt release and an extended magazine release are also included. Trigger pull is pre-set to 2 to 2-1/2 lbs. Due to the oversized safety used, it may be necessary for some stocks to be modified slightly to accommodate this part.
Machined, aluminum, trigger housing with hardened, steel components replaces the non-adjustable, factory trigger in your Ruger 10/22 for a crisp, consistent, single stage trigger pull worthy of the finest match rifle. Patented, two-lever system puts the sear engagement point at the backside of the hammer for improved leverage that lightens pull weight to approximately 1.5 or 2.5 pounds, depending on model. Extra-power hammer spring ensures fast, positive primer ignition. Adjustments for sear engagement and overtravel allow precise tuning to eliminate creep. Includes pivoting ejector, magazine latch, and push-button safety. Spring-loaded, bolt lock lever disengages automatically when bolt is pulled rearward for easy, one-handed bolt operation. Available in black or silver. Drop-in installation using the factory, receiver cross-pins.
The best selling custom trigger assembly upgrade for your Ruger 10/22. If you have been dissatisfied with the 6-8 pound trigger pull that came with your rifle, this customized trigger assembly may be perfect for hunting & off-hand target shooting. The crisp trigger release is only 2-3/4 pounds. Each trigger assembly has been carefully fitted, lubricated, and tested for safety and reliability. What makes it special are the custom replacement parts included in the assembly. Standard trigger and housing color is black. Best application: Hunting & off-hand target shooting.
Easy drop-in installation. No special tools needed. Instructions included. After the stock is removed, two cross-pins attach the assembly to the receiver. Drift them out, drop the old assembly, and reassemble in reverse order. It can be done in less than 5 minutes without experience.
Hand polished and honed Hammer for a light, smooth, trigger release. Lightweight Trigger Return Spring and Custom Radius Trigger Return Plunger polished for smoothness. Custom Sear and Disconnector honed for minimal positive engagement consistent with safety. Automatic Bolt Release eliminating two-hand operation – just pull back and release. Custom Extended Magazine Release – push forward and the magazine easily drops away – no more convoluted pinching to operate the release. Custom hammer, sear, and disconnector pins to eliminate most of the trigger play. Satin black polymer housing, red trigger, red extended magazine release. All parts are fitted, lubricated, and test fired.
I recently became of a company called Tandemkross that specializes in aftermarket parts for the Ruger 10/22, Ruger 22/45, Ruger Mark II Ruger Mark III and Keltec PMR Pistols. Tandemkross offers some pretty neat products. The first such product to catch my eye is the Ruger 10/22 Mag Doubler. The Ruger 10/22 Magazine Doubler connects two 10 round magazines together at the base. It is the cleanest implementation of the concept I have seen to date. For more info on Tandemkross visit their website.
Allows 2 10/22 Rotary Magazines from Ruger to be “double” stacked
Easy to install. Does not modify the magazines in any way
I recently purchased a KIDD INNOVATIVE DESIGN Bull Barrel from a close friend for an incredible price. He had purchased the KIDD INNOVATIVE DESIGN 10 22 Match Bull Barrel as an upgrade for his Ruger 10/22 but unfortunately the barrel weight was more than his kids could handle. Basically they struggled through one loaded magazine and that was it. To my eyes the KIDD INNOVATIVE DESIGN 10 22 Match Bull Barrel appears unused.
Acquiring this barrel causes yet another project to go unfinished while another comes to life. My friends point about barrel weight is valid so I decided that addressing the weight might be an interesting project in itself. I have a few idea but I will not spill the beans at this time. You will just have to keep checking back.
The image of the KIDD INNOVATIVE DESIGN 10 22 Match Bull Barrel at the top of the page is from the KIDD website. I will shoot my own very soon for a little before and after comparison.
KIDD INNOVATIVE DESIGN 10 22 Match Bull Barrel Description:
We believe these are the finest barrels on the market, each one is hand lapped. Our stainless steel barrel is bored and rifled by Lothar Walther in Germany. Tony Kidd then performs all the final machining to make our match barrel a worthy KIDD product. A proprietary chamber reamer is used to ensure the cartridge and bullet feed smoothly while allowing the bullet to consistently engrave the rifling .020″. Our barrels are chambered to accept .22 ammo (not long enough for stingers) and have a 1:16 twist. The unique convex extractor slot eliminates extraction problems by ensuring the extractor is always in perfect alignment with the case rim. Why doesn’t everybody use this extractor slot? Because the tooling is very expensive and requires tolerances be held very close for proper machining. Each barrel receives an 11 degree crown and the double ring logo at the muzzle. Our 20″ bull barrel weighs 3.5 lbs, 18″ weighs 3.3 lbs, and our 16.5″ weighs 3.1lbs.
We can offer such a great price on this barrel because we don’t sell to distributors, only retail and dealer pricing is offered, therefore we don’t have to increase our price to compensate for 3 tier pricing. There are cheaper barrels out there but as with all KIDD products, “you get what you pay for.” To avoid “barrel droop,” check your clamp to make sure you only have moderate tension on the screws. We tighten them to around 10 inch pounds which is just snug enough to keep the barrel from moving forward. No more than this, as even the slightest tension moves the barrel and receiver out of alignment.
Barrel installation: Depending on your receiver, if there is paint build up in the receiver where the barrel extension is inserted, be sure to scrape that out. If the barrel is tight, use an anti-seize compound to assist in installation. It is best if you can get the barrel started, then turn it over and tap the back of the receiver with a rubber mallet. Be sure to line the extractor slot up as you are installing the barrel. Your barrel is ready to shoot, just run two magazines through it before you really start looking at group size. Do this each time you change brands of ammunition as well. Keep the chamber clean, but don’t clean the bore too much you will decrease accuracy. Depending on the ammo, clean the bore around every 500 rounds.
